Be the Legacy This Country Deserves

I wrote this a few years ago, but I think it speaks loudly still today.

I confess, I am a bit at a loss when deciding what to write about today. I could write about new information I read on the coronavirus from the state department website, or I could talk about the massive military occupation of Washington D.C. for Biden’s inauguration or the fact that there was concern that members of the military themselves might pose a threat to the incoming president. There are a variety of topics to discuss and to become more educated about, but at this point in time, I need to pause. I’m writing this article on Tuesday but it won’t be published until today, Friday, and who knows what will have happened between the time of this writing and the time of its publication.

So, I want to write an article that can speak to any sort of happening since the state of the nation today is likely different than it was on the day of this writing. I’m simply going to talk about America, who she is, and who we are as a part of her.

Alexis de Tocqueville said of the United States: “America is a land of wonders, in which everything is in constant motion and every change seems an improvement.”

Indeed. This reality makes the United States unique from many other nations. In the United States, liberty allows for change and growth to happen, within the confines and protection of law. Therefore, the change is healthy, stable, and positive.

“We are called the nation of inventors. And we are. We could still claim that title and wear its loftiest honors if we had stopped with the first thing we ever invented, which was human liberty.”

Mark Twain

America’s uniqueness has captivated and awed me ever since I was a little girl. There truly has never been a nation like her in history. I remember reading about how the United States, as an economic power, gives benevolently to other nations in need, something that no other world power has ever done with their power. I remember learning about how, when any other nation suffers a crisis, the United States is always quick to send aid but is rarely ever the recipient of aid should she, herself, suffer a crisis.

The world has truly never been the same since 1776. The progress, innovation, advancement, liberty, ideas, ideals, and hope that the United States has introduced into the world since its inception is truly staggering. Before the United States, the world still stumbled in relative darkness, disunity and dysfunction.

Disagree?

“America is another name for opportunity. Our whole history appears like a last effort of divine providence on behalf of the human race.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Look at history. For thousands of years the world’s progress (in terms of innovation, science, technology, and even democracy), with the exception of a few highly advanced societies whose advancements remained relatively confined, moved at a snails pace. Then, the United States, the first country to ever be founded on the principles of liberty, human rights, Constitutionalism, and a mutual respect for the Bible and Christianity, burst onto the scene. This country was shown divine favor in a way no country ever had before.

Within 250 years, the world was quite literally turned upside down (to steal a song from the British troops after losing the Revolutionary War).

Since her birth, The United States, even with her flaws, has stood as a shining beacon of hope to countries and societies who never even knew that liberty and law and order could co-exist.

The United States has given citizens from other countries a taste of what could be in their countries all the while infuriating countries whose ideologies stand in total opposition to her stance of liberty and justice for all.

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

John F. Kennedy

But, leave it to human nature to want to tear down those who hold positions of power. Throughout history, many nations have tried to tear down the United States even when doing so would simply damage themselves.

True, America has her flaws, but what nation doesn’t? She also has her virtues and what nation on earth, now or ever, can boast of such a vast array of virtues? And yet, even with these virtues, even with the myriad of ways this nation has helped the world, many of these nations want to see her fall.

And, sadly, history shows that no country, no empire has ever lasted forever. All empires rise and fall. Some have risen higher than others, usually at the expense of the rest of the world. America has risen higher than all empires before, and brought up much of the world with her (this is not to dismiss or pretend that that the U.S. has never also abused her power).

But she will fall. It is inevitable. It’s not a matter of if but a matter of when. And many countries have been working to precipitate such a fall since her founding. Why? Because America stands in the way of many powerful nations who want arbitrary power and control, something the mere idea of the U.S. prevents.

So, don’t be surprised if the United States does eventually crumble. Such a fall could be happening now, or perhaps it won’t happen for 10 years or 20 years or in generations to come.

“What is the essence of America? Finding and maintaining that perfect, delicate balance between freedom ‘to’ and freedom ‘from’.”

Marilyn vos Savant

No matter when such a fall happens, we must be ready. We must not be fooled into thinking that the United States is beyond such a fall. We must treasure who she was and the remnant of who she was in who she now is. Because friends, we are her. We are now America. The founders were America. The fallen veterans and generations before, were America. Today, friends, we, you and I, are America.

Let’s not let her down. Let’s represent her, her history, her ancestors, her founding, her ideals, and what she represents to the world, to the best of our ability. Who knows, we may very well be the last generation, the last generation to know the remnant of what she was, so we must leave the best memory of who she is to generations to follow. We, you and I now represent her, with all her flaws and imperfections, all her beauty and liberty. We are ultimately who our children and our children’s children will remember as America.

Let’s be the America we want the history books to remember her to be, rather than who her enemies would want her to be. She’s a land of life, liberty, love, passion, hope, truth, compassion, flaws, sins, competition, and redemption.

We are America. No matter what happened this week or what will happen in the future weeks, be Americans as the Americans of the past would have wanted.

“Be Americans. Let there be no sectionalism, no North, South, East or West. You are all dependent on one another and should be one in union. In one word, be a nation. Be Americans, and be true to yourselves.”

George Washington

Let’s be the legacy this great nation deserves.

  1. Everyone I feel agrees with this writing. Our way of freedom & liberty vested in our Republic Constitution is what created our downfall. The Republic enemy use that loophole to gain access to our Nation and build a destructive Power by infiltrating and taking over the nation. I don’t know how familiar you are about various organizations that are anti-American and many of them are very rich and Powerful at the present moment. To name a few would be the secret world government The Hidden Hand That is the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington DC. Another one is the Anti-Defamation League and its sister group The Southern Poverty Law Center. Also the Communist Party USA. Then you have the trilateral commission on the Pentagon side and Military and they are with the Bilderberg Group which are rich dignitaries of countries all around the world. So when you speak of change you’re going to get change but it’s not going to be the change that used to be when America was created the organizations are working counter to the ways of prosperity and freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Between . The organizations in their stop and the foreign lobbyists dictating in the back room two or three branches of government have brought America to the brink of collapse. David Rockefeller in the Rockefeller Center have been very instrumental in changing America in fact there on track with the big reset. And now we have the new government the CDC with the WHO that are now the New Government. Which dictates our Liberty and Freedoms. But what we have here is a totalitarian fascist and communist highdeology that is being given free rein on the Free People of America and our government is siding with the enemy of freedom. I had a lot to say I hope you do read it I could go on but pretty much the Bible explains everything very well and what you going to come down in the future good luck,. I respect your love and admiration for the greatest nation in the world that is being brought down by some very evil powerful people that the Holy Bible speaks of.

Thank you so much for this comment. Very informational as well and yes, I agree with you. Many organizations are responsible for the slow destruction of this nation and yes, the very liberty our Constitution gave us has always created the monsters that may be used to destroy us. Ironic indeed. 🙁
